Hobart Airport Taxis, Car Rental, Bus, Shuttle and Transportation Services

There is a variety of transportation services around Hobart Airport. Have a look and check what is the most convenient for you.

Shuttle and Bus Services

It takes about 20 minutes for the Tasmania Redline Airporter bus to transport you from Hobart Airport to Hobart city. The Redline Airporter also allows you to book your pick-up date if you book more than two hours before your desired pick-up date. There are two shuttle services which run between Hobart city and the airport.
The Airporter, which departs from outside the terminal after every flight arrival. Bookings should be made online or by calling 1300 38 55 11 for transfers to the airport. Fares are $17 one way and $30 return, with discounts for children and seniors.
The other shuttle service is the ‘Ten Buck Bus,’ a family-owned service which meets flights at the airport and picks up travellers from hotels and backpackers in the city. This service can be booked for pickups from most places in Hobart, so contact them on their website (www.tenbuckbus.com.au)  for a booking.

If you’re looking for taxis, the taxi rank is located outside the Hobart Airport Building, serviced by a number of taxi firms. A taxi ride to Hobart City from the airport cost around AU$40 - AU$50 and usually takes just 20 minutes.

Car Rental

If you’re not a fan of public transportation, we recommend booking a rental car. The Hobart Airport Car Hire allows you to search through several supplies rather than just one. Car rental desks in the airport include international brands such as Avis, Hertz, Budget, and Europcar, Thrifty and Bargain Car Rentals. Other companies with off-airport depots may have free shuttle services or meet-and-greet services for customers arriving to the airport, so check before you book as these can often be cheaper options. www.hobartairportcarhire.com.au is a great place to look for car rentals from a variety of suppliers in Hobart, both chains and local rental companies.

Motorway Access

The Tasman Highway or A3 is your gateway to Hobart and the rest of Tasmania. It connects the airport to the Hobart Central Business District as well as other highways. From the Airport, simply follow Holyman Avenue to the highway. From there, a left turn will take you across the River Derwent and into Hobart, while a right turn will take you towards the eastern coast of Tasmania.
